One of the world’s tallest buildings was engulfed by flames

A massive fire broke out on Friday in one of the world’s highest skyscrapers in Dubai.

Although the damages were considerable, fortunately, the emergency units have revealed that no victims required medical assistance.

Most social media clips showcased how rapid the flames have spread on Dubai’s Torch Tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world.

The Torch Tower has 79 floors and at in 2008, at its official inauguration, it was the tallest residential building in the world.

The building is over 330 meters tall and is currently the fifth tallest residential building in the world.

The same skyscraper was scorched by flames two years ago when the fire spread through the flammable materials used on a nearby construction site.

Local authorities said the intervention troops had been able to evacuate the building in time and now the firefighters are struggling to quench the flames. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet.

In the footage published by the Dubai civil defense, after the firemen managed to secure the premises, the lights in some of the apartments situated on the top floors were still on.

In January, the Dubai authorities announced the adoption of stricter construction regulations to minimize the risk of such incidents, mainly caused by highly flammable materials used by the construction firms from the Emirates.
