A restaurant in China has become the target of critics after launching a promotional campaign, offering women discounts depending on the size of their bra, writes BBC News.

Several villagers filed complaints to the mayor’s officers after the city of Hangzhou became wired by billboards with the Trendy Shrimp restaurant.

The posters feature some cartoon characters in lingerie and the “The entire city is looking for breasts” slogan and a message related to the discount offered depending on your cup size.

Several customers have complained the ad is vulgar, sexist and discriminative for women.

The manager of the restaurant defended his “marketing strategy,” claiming that “since we started the campaign, the number of customers has increased by 20%. Some girls who came to us were very proud, they had nothing to hide.”

He insisted upon the idea that his female customers have the option of asking one of the waitresses to apply the discount if they do not want to deal with their male staff.

Meanwhile, the banners have been withdrawn.

This is not the first time a Chinese restaurant offers discounts depending on the physical appearance of customers.

In January 2015, a restaurant in Henan Province announced that are offering discounts only to good-looking customers while an eating joint from Chongqing applies discounts only to their overweight customers.
