The 10-year-old Indian girl was raped a few months ago and she is not allowed to terminate the pregnancy because an Indian court banned her parents from going through with it, writes BBC News.

The toddler became pregnant after being repeatedly raped by one of her close relatives.

The man was arrested and he will find out his final sentence in the following months.

On July 28, the Indian Supreme Court rejected the parents’ request to terminate the pregnancy and, now, she is 32 weeks pregnant.

The court has stated the pregnancy is in a very advanced stage and a miscarriage at this point might jeopardize the girls’ life.

The doctors and magistrates have determined that such an intervention would jeopardize the mother’s life and say that the fetus is evolving well.

The court’s decision was a huge disappointment for the family, who says their daughter does not know what’s going on and a baby’s birth could affect her mentally.

The law in India does not allow a woman to interrupt a pregnancy if the pregnancy surpassed the 20 weeks stage but considering that, in most cases, these things are being discovered too late these children end up carrying a baby at the age of 10.

The 10-year-old girl whose pregnancy was discovered just three weeks ago complained of some abdominal pains and her mother took her to a doctor.

A person who knows the girl says: “She is very innocent and has no idea what happened to her.”

Her parents did not notice the signs of pregnancy because she is a healthy little child. Besides, they could not imagine their daughter could be pregnant at the age of 10.
