Turkey will not be able to “continue to stop” the flow of immigrants to the EU if the travel visas are not removed until October for Turkish citizens into the EU, warned the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, in an interview with the Greek daily Kathimerini.

The Turkish Minister reiterated the warning towards Europeans after recording by the Greek authorities, on Monday and Tuesday, a new wave of 462 immigrants who left the coasts of Turkey, according to Le Figaro.

As Turkey has done its part to stop the flow, after the agreement with the EU on migration ended in March, it expects that the Europeans will keep their promises, declared Cavusoglu.

If the EU does not honor these commitments, Turkey will not be able to continue to stop the illegal migration by itself to Europe, he warned.

They are expecting visa liberalization for Turkish citizens no later than October, he insisted.

The Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said last week that Turkey could cancel the agreement with the EU on immigration if visas will not be removed until October for Turkish citizens traveling into the EU.

“We want our partners in the European Union to understand that the time has come to assume greater responsibility in the matter of immigration. It is essential that the agreement on visa liberalization will come into force by the end of October. If readmission and visa for Turkish citizens won’t enter into force, Europe will face a major risk, “said Binali Yildirim after the meeting he had in Istanbul with the Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.

On August 15, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu noted that Turkey will abandon the agreement with the European Union immigration restrictions if Turkish citizens will not receive, from October visas for travel into the EU.
