News leaks are reporting that the pending release of the new iPhone may be in short supply. The iPhone 7 has been much anticipated in the market since rumblings of its approaching introduction were first heard. Millions of users currently have iPhones of older generations and are eager to update to the newest product offered by the company. Unfortunately, they may have some problems with purchase.

What was released recently was a statement that Apple may have to content with a notably short supply of the phone. Issues such as faulty inner components have slowed down production and caused the shortage. The verdict is that if Apple releases the phone as scheduled, there definitely will be a supply shortage because some suppliers are still working on fixing the components giving them problems.

Apple, in response, still claims that they are staying “as close as possible” to their original launch date, although it may create a shortage. The first rollout will still stick to the plan, however it may drive prices higher. Jeff Pu, consulting analyst from Yuanta Investment, stated that they believe the iPhone 7 will be released at a rate of 10-million units less than last year’s release of the iPhone 6s. Last year there were some problems with procurement so that could put Apple in a difficult position.

Apple however stated that orders thus far are conservative, so they don’t see that release at a lower unit count to be a problem. Apple’s numbers have been dropping consistently throughout the years as they release a new phone. Analysts project that a 15% drop is likely, while other industry insiders say that number could be as high as 20%.

The rumor is that September 9th is the date when the iPhone 7 will appear on the Apple web store for purchase.
