Although GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 was a much sought after FPS, it has been having some update problems. Things have actually been tricky due to licensing between Microsoft and Nintendo. This is because, in 2000, Microsoft took over GoldenEye’s programmer Rare, which wound up being the downfall of the games’ remake.

For a while now, it has been rumored that Rare was working on the remake for the Xbox live Arcade on the 360. The rumor is that the licensing issue between Nintendo and Microsoft is the reason why the game has not been released. These rumors were from 2008, and six years later, it looks like the game is never going to see the light of day.

Notwithstanding, YouTube user Rare-Thief released a half hour of footage for the much awaited GoldenEye 007 XBLA gameplay on his YouTube channel. The remastered version lets you switch between the first version of the game and the new build. This is one of the features expected in the updated GoldenEye.

The re-master will not be a recreation of GoldenEye, it will retain the same polygonal shapes, but present them in a higher resolution texture, this will give the game a sense of the old and the new in one upgrade. Players are also expecting a better gaming experience with an increased frame rate of 60 fps and would have been made available with an online multiplayer modified to suit the X-Box 360.

The game is also expected to come with new multiplayer maps, the option of having all characters at the same height as well as the earlier mentioned switch from the old graphics to the updated graphics. With all these expectations for the updated game, it’ll be one of the saddest update expectations ever.
