One in eight young people in the UK has never really seen a cow, according to a survey conducted on independent.ie
Although they know how the four-legged animal looks like, most English youngsters have only seen it on TV or on the internet.
The most shocking part whatsoever is the poor knowledge of these youngsters when it comes to natural things like fruits or vegetables.
More than half had no idea that strawberries are summer fruits.
The poll showed that young people are more and more disinterested in aspects related to the rural life or how certain foods are being produced.
2.000 people were interviewed in the survey conducted by the Prince’s Rural Fund.
However, the British people are not worse than Americans, who swore that chocolate milk is being obtained by farmers from… brown cows, which is “sad”.
A mix of milk, cocoa, and sugar? No, not at all.
For 7% of America’s population, chocolate milk is so much easier to obtain.
According to the study conducted by the National Council for Dairy Products and Washington Post, 16,4 Americans are 100% sure that chocolate milk comes from brown cows.
In addition, half of these people had no idea that green salad and onion are plants and pickles are actually cucumbers.
The worse part, however, is that children had never seen a raw potato in their entire life, they only know how these veggies look like when they are being fried.
