If you like to make the most of your newest purchases by posting them on social media, you might get in trouble

These days, most people love to post pictures with their new luxury cars or villas and exotic vacations.

Beyond the display of opulence, such practices might jeopardize the freedom or those who insist to display their wealth, especially if they are unjustified.

The warning should be taken into consideration especially by those Indians who boast more than they can earn from honest work because the authorities have launched a new strategy meant to identify tax evaders.

The Indian authorities are now checking Instagram and Facebook to discover if certain accusations of tax evasion match the current lifestyles of the suspects.

Platforms like Facebook and Instagram will become powerful sources of information for Indian authorities starting with the next month, trying to find out if citizens are tax evaders, a fact that can be simply deduced from their lifestyle.

For someone with an average salary, maintaining a huge villa, a luxury car and spending holidays in exotic destinations is the perfect “candidate” when it comes to this strategy.

Of course, there is also a chance that this method would not be ideal because in some situations we could talk about gifts from others.

Amit Maheshwari of Ashok Maheshwary and Associates, New Delhi believes this solution might even help solve the problem of harassment by the authorities, who sometimes tend to pressure the suspects without possessing any evidence.
