Donald Trump is not going to be happy about this!
The president and his administration worked on a revised travel ban, which was supposed to take effect today. However, a federal judge from Hawaii blocked it just a few hours ago.
The new immigration ban was now concerning six countries. Iran, which offered support to the military against the Islamic state, was erased from the list. This ban would also suspend the admission of new refugees.
Derrick J. Watson is the one who blocked Trump’s ban even before it happened. The federal judge exposed his opinion on this ban in a paper of 43 pages. Watson brought as evidence Trump’s words and his team’s statements to prove that, indeed, this ban aims at Muslims and is a discrimination.
The judge also mentioned that this law is unconstitutional.
Watson brought other arguments to prove that this is a discrimination to this religion: the historic context, the public statements and all the events that lead to this order.
The initial travel ban was also blocked by a judge, one from Washington. The President was pissed off then and even called the Supreme Court. Three judges inspected his ruling and decided that his law is unconstitutional.
As he could not go on with that order, he decided that a new version, a “watered down” one would let him have his way.
When he will hear about this block, he won’t be happy at all. He really wants to have an immigration ban and he would do anything to have it.
