In August 2015, Shannen Doherty filed a lawsuit against her management firm concerning her health insurance. According to the actress, in November 2013, SAG (insurance company) sent a premium invoice to Doherty’s management firm, Tanner Mainstays, for her medical coverage for the following year. However, Tanner Mainstays ignored it, didn’t pay (unknown to Doherty) and went ahead to terminate their business relationship with her on February 7th 2014. She claimed that if her management firm had done their job well, her cancer would have been diagnosed at the early stage and wouldn’t have been allowed to spread.
Doherty has revealed that as she continues to battle with cancer, she intends to get past the case. The “90210” star and her ex business manager have unanimously reached a settlement in the lawsuit according to recent court documents.
The notice of settlement was filed on Friday during the case. The agreement is conditional on a satisfactory completion of all the terms specified. The terms must be met within a period of 45 days from the date of settlement. The specific financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed to the public. Doherty has been very strong and expressive throughout her battle with cancer. She even shared the warm moment when she cut her hair with her Instagram followers.
During her recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress told the world that the cancer had spread. “At first I had breast cancer, with time it spread to my lymph nodes, and during one of my surgeries the doctors discovered that some cancerous cells might have gone out of my lymph nodes and probably spread even more.” Doherty said. This is the reason she’ll be going through chemo, and after that radiation therapy too.
