The Russian city of St. Petersburg was covered by a thick layer of ice and snow in the middle of July. Thousands of residents have posted the incredible photos on social media, gathering millions of shares and likes.

The unusual scene was caused by a hailstorm

On certain streets, the traffic was jammed and due to the thick layer of ice, the authorities had a pretty hard time when it came to clean them.

Obviously, the traffic has been paralyzed for several hours and most witnesses revealed the hail drops were the size of a cherry.

Fortunately, other material damages or casualties we’re not reported just yet

Earlier in June, in Moscow, the tourists were taken by surprise when all of the sudden the streets became covered in snow and the temperatures dropped way below than normal for this time of the year.
