Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced on Wednesday the replacement of 11 members of 26 from Ankara’s Cabinet, including the Ministry of Justice and Defense, the Associated Press agency has reported.

The decision comes a few months after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan became the leader of the ruling party and has gained more political influence during the referendum from April.

After Erdogan complained about a “fatigued atmosphere” in the Justice and Defense departments, the state leader decided to opt for a change.

So, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim appointed Abdulhamit Gul as Justice Minister and Nurettin Canikli as Defense Minister.

Former Justice and Defense Ministers, Bekir Bozdag and Fikri Isik, came under the police’s radar after the failed state coup attempt from 2016 attributed to Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen and their dismissal was something that everyone has predicted.

More than 50.000 people accused of having ties with Fethullah Gulen’s group were arrested.

Meanwhile, the Turkish prime minister has largely maintained the economic management team.

Ministries who didn’t end up with a new leader were those of Economy, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Interior and European Affairs.

Julide Sarieroglu was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Security, is just the second woman in the Ankara Council of Ministers.

This strategy of replacing every single minister was labeled by many experts as a step towards ceding the president’s authority and preparing for the general elections in 2019.
