It takes more than a devastating diagnosis to keep John McCain away from the political battle in Washington, CNN writes.

The former US presidential candidate, and now Senator of Arizona, is set to return to his office on Tuesday, less than a week after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

The 80-year-old Republican senator and former Vietnam prisoner have published on Twitter that “I look forward to coming back to the Senate tomorrow to continue my work on the health reform, defense law, and sanctions on Russia.”

Last week, McCain was diagnosed with a brain tumor, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Although the news shocked his friends and colleagues, the Arizona politician refuses to give up.

The voting set to take place on Tuesday senators must decide whether or not to initiate plenary debates on a law to replace the so-called Obamacare, the health law adopted during President Barack Obama’s Democratic Administration in 2010.

However, without McCain’s contribution, the Republicans had serious emotions regarding the final results.

If the Senate leaders fail to gather enough votes, they will have to find another strategy or move on to other legislative issues.

The House of Representatives adopted the health reform law in April.
