The capital of Hawaii has adopted a new law

According to Xinhua, the new legislative project prohibits pedestrians from checking their smartphones or other devices when they are crossing the street.

The new measure is set to come into force in October and it will reduce the number of crashes and deaths caused by “distracted pedestrians”, suggests the articles published last week in the US.

People who violate the rule, which also includes digital cameras, will become forced to pay up a fine between $15 and $35 if he or she is a first-time offender.

If they break the rule for the second time around, the fine will consist in $99.

Emergency calls are taken into account.

Meanwhile, in Honolulu the opinions related to the new law are divided: there are some people who oppose and accused the government of overcoming their legal attributions.
