The 2017 season has ended for Novak Djokovic

The former world champion was forced to retire from Wimbledon’s quarter-finals due to a hand injury and today he announced the decision of suspending his activity for the rest of the year.

“After a year and a half of playing with this injury, I’ve reached the conclusion that I don’t need to participate in the next tournaments”, the former world leader announced on his official Facebook page.

After retiring from Wimbledon, Djokovic claimed that these pains on his right arm persisted for a long time, but said he would not want to go under surgery.

Novak Djokovic abandoned the start of the second set with Tomas Berdych, 7-6, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.

“There is a possibility to act as I was proposed, but I do not think it would be good. Then, having been operated or poisoned with pills … none of the solutions are good, the logical conclusion is that I need to rest and a long break”, revealed Djokovic after his retirement from Wimbledon, making it clear that there are still chances to play in the upcoming year.

Therefore, Djokovic will miss the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the Year, and the Masters in Shanghai and Paris.

The Serbian will not be present at the Champions League in London or the Davis Cup semifinal against France.
