The North Korean government has launched a web page meant to promote tourism, such as surfing, cycling or rice harvesting

Meanwhile, Washington is warning their citizens that a trip to North Korea might turn into a “golden ticket” to prison.

The DPR Korea Tour website (http://tourismdprk.gov.kp/), managed by the National Tourism Administration, is struggling to promote a country condemned by countless international organizations, focused only on nuclear and ballistic programs as the perfect holiday destination.

In the campaign, tourists are included in circuits organized in different regions, depending on their period of stay and subscriptions to various theme parks for those who seek for “adventure”.

Visitors are encouraged to take long walks on the beaches situated on the East Coast, especially on Majon Beach, where the surfing experience is something that you will certainly remember forever because the water is insanely clear.

The page, which can be translated in Korean, English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese, also provides practical information mainly related to taxi and bus routes in Pyongyang.

Although the page is packed with commercials and images with tourists who seem to have the time of their lives, none of the columns provide tips related to their North Korea’s travel agencies.

The US State Department advises its citizens to not travel in the communist country because of “the high risk of arrest and incarceration.”

16 American citizens ended up behind bars in North Korea within 10 years, including student Otto Warmbier, who was sent home in Ohio into a coma and died in less than a week after he was returned to his family.
