China strengthens its military presence at the 1.420-kilometer-long border with North Korea as a precautionary measure in case of a potential crisis in the Korean Peninsula, according to Wall Street Journal, quoted by CNBC.

The Wall Street Journal writes that Beijing has increased the security level at the border, while the military is performing exercises on daily basis.

Also, military officials have required a larger number of units from other regions to be deployed to the border as soon as possible.

“China has always argued that military options will never be considered as a solution to the problem in the Korean Peninsula because the force will not solve the disputes in any way and it will only bring unbearable suffering to all parties”, has stated on Monday the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang.

The position of the Chinese diplomacy follows the message launched by the US the Ministry of Defense regarding the North Korean issue.

In June, Secretary of Defense, James Mattis, told the US Congress that the United States should make all possible “diplomatic efforts” to avoid a “catastrophic war” that would be “much more serious in terms of human suffering” than the one from 1953.

The most recent nuclear test, when the last missile could’ve hit Alaska, Haley told the UN Security Council North Korea’s actions “quickly shut down any possibility of approaching a diplomatic solution”, and her nation is ready to defend itself, exactly like their allies (especially South Korea and Japan).
