A significant number of people were injured in what seems to be a ‘tear gas attack’, reported on Monday the officials of the Frankfurt International Airport.

According to the last information, an unidentified man sprayed the entire area with an irritable substance, the German media reports.

The awkward incident occurred in the check-in area around 11.00 local time.

The airport officials said the intervention teams didn’t discover any “harmful substances” and the affected area was reopened to the public, adding that six people are receiving medical assistance after they accused severe breathing problems, writes the Daily Mail.

The airport officers wrote on Twitter that an investigation was opened in order to clear the situation and identify the author.
