The Spanish authorities have urged the North Korean ambassador to Madrid Kim Hyok-chol to leave the country by the end of the month, writes France 24.

Spain’s decision was labeled as a protest against Pyongyang’s nuclear tests, Spanish diplomacy adding that Pyongyang’s actions are a “serious threat to peace”.

“Today, the North Korean ambassador to Spain has been declared as a persona non grata”, the Spanish Foreign Ministry announced on Twitter.

Kim Hyok-chol was also required to cut off the diplomatic staff from the North Korean consulate in Madrid.

The North Korean Embassy in Spain was founded in 2014.

China and Russia have started their joint military maneuvers on Monday, in the North Korean waters, a few days after Pyongyang’s most recent nuclear and ballistic tests.

The military exercises are currently unfolding between this coastal city and the northern waters, notes the quoted source.

These maneuvers take place less than a month after North Korea’s sixth nuclear test from September 3, and also the two ballistic missile launches launched over Japan (August 29 and September 15).

The North Korean regime justifies its military ambitions as a strong need to protect itself from the US.

China is the closest diplomatic and economic ally of North Korea, but last week joined forces with the rest of the UN Security Council states, voting for imposing the economic sanctions against Pyongyang.
