The legendary “father” of the Playboy empire died in his California home on Wednesday night and he will be buried next to Marilyn Monroe, the same actress who transformed the magazine into a brand, appearing naked in the first issue, published in 1953.

Hugh Hefner will be buried in the same mausoleum where Marilyn fell asleep forever, after he paid no less than $75.000 for that spot in 1992.

The founder of Playboy will rest for eternity alongside the first covergirl in the history of the legendary magazine.

The relationship between Hefner and Marilyn Monroe is special due to the fact that she turned the magazine into a huge success right from the start, but also because those steamy shots, transformed the blonde into the world’s most notorious sex symbol.

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in 1926, Monroe became one of Hollywood’s greatest stars and a sex symbol of her generation.

Asked if he wanted to have a relationship with the star from “Some like jazz” the Playboy founder replied to CBS2 that: “Oh yes. I would have liked. I’m crazy about blondes, and she’s the supreme blonde.”

Yet, although they are bound for eternity, Hugh confesses that he never met the blonde who helped him start a real cultural revolution.

“The photos were published in Playboy when I was still in Chicago and she died before I moved to California”, revealed Hefner.

He says there is a compensation, because he will spend eternity with her.

“When I die I will be put to rest next to her. There is a notion of completing this. I’m going to spend the rest of my eternity with Marilyn. ”

Hefner will join a number of Hollywood celebrities buried in the Los Angeles cemetery, including musician Roy Orbison, writer Truman Capote and actor Dean Martin.
