Hawaiians have been warned to prepare in case of a nuclear attack initiated by North Korea, as tensions between the United States and the Pyongyang regime intensify by the day

The Hawaiians have been urged to prepare themselves for a potential nuclear attack just as they would prepare for a tsunami or hurricane that would hit the island, according to The Independent.

Gene Ward, a state representative, said he does not want the population to be alarmed, he just wants his citizens to be ready for what might follow.

On the other hand, a local newspaper wrote that there was a closed-door meeting attended by several state officials regarding the possible effects of a nuclear attack from North Korea.

In November Hawaii will test a sound warning system that meant to prepare the population to mobilize in 12-15 minutes and be prepared to stay behind closed doors between 48 and 72 hours.

Tensions between the US and North Korea have escalated lately, and the statements and threats of the two sides are constantly increasing.

Recently, North Korea has accused the US of having declared war on the country, following the latest statements made by US President Donald Trump. At the same time, Ri Yong-ho told reporters in New York that Pyongyang reserves the right to shoot and knock down American bombers crossing the Korean peninsula.

On the other hand, the White House said the United States did not declare war on North Korea.
