The world’s top antivirus developers have announced that Avril Lavigne is “the most dangerous celebrity” in the online environment, writes CNN.

The pop star was declared by the cyber-security experts as this year’s most dangerous celebrity when it comes to online searches, at least according to McAfee.

The report mostly includes celebrities that generate millions of search results, able to expose or redirect their fans to malicious websites.

“Cybercriminals continue to use consumer’s fascination for celebrities, leading them to websites that can be used as a bate to spread malwares or to steal personal information and even passwords”, stated the McAfee experts.

The study, conducted by the antivirus developer for the eleventh year in a row, highlights the dangers that Internet users face when seeking celebrity-centered content.

Lavigne withdrew from the stage in 2014 when she announced she was suffering from Lyme disease.

However, earlier in August, the singer announced that she is preparing her grand comeback and she is currently working on a new album.

Currently, according to McAfee, searching for “Avril Lavigne free mp3” comes with a 22% chance of encountering a malicious site.

Lavigne is the first singer to reach the 1st place in this category, replacing Amy Schumer, who was at the top of last year’s list. The second position is being occupied by Bruno Mars.
