Julia Louis-Dreyfus, known for her roles in Seinfeld and Veep, announced on her Twitter personal account that she suffers from breast cancer

At 56, the star made the tragic confession via Twitter.

“A woman out of 8 is suffers from breast cancer. Today, I am one of them”, revealed Dreyfus.

“Good news is that I have the greatest support system: family and friends. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight against all types of cancer and make universal medical care a reality”, continued the actress.

Louis-Dreyfus received the diagnosis a day after winning the sixth consecutive Emmy for the role of Selina Meyer in the HBO series “Vice President / Veep”.

In the photo posted on her Twitter account, she now wears the famous “pussy hat”, a pink hat with cat ears, which is also the symbol of opposition against President Donald Trump.

Several celebrities have chosen to make their struggle with breast cancer public, such as singer Sheryl Crow or actress Cynthia Nixon (‘Sex and the City’) in order to encourage all women to opt for a screening.

In 2013, Angelina Jolie revealed she had undergone a double mastectomy to prevent any risk, especially because her mother died after suffering from breast cancer.
