The former Cuban leader was a true man of passions. The legendary Fidel Castro had a weakness for sports, movies and also… beautiful ladies.

Flamboyant and extrovert Fidel Castro has always remained extremely reserved about his private life and never appeared in public with a woman on his arm.

Married only once – in 1948 with Mirta Diaz-Balart exile the ‘Lider Maximo’ had, however, at least eight children with four different women.  His popularity among women in the 60’s linked Castri with actresses like Italian Gina Lollobrigida and American Ava Gardner.

His last partner, Dalia Soto del Valle, a blonde with green eyes, with whom he has five sons and who shared his life since the 1960’s, is a quite unknown character for most Cubans.

But one of the most influential women in the life of Fidel Castro was undoubtedly Celia Sanchez, whom he met in the jungles of the Sierra Maestra in 1957. She was his right hand, his personal secretary until she died of cancer in 1980.

More than women, but Fidel Castro said that sport was an area that formed his spirit. Swimming, athletics, baseball, basketball, football, and shooting or fishing: there are few sports in which the Cuban leader has not been seen exercising his talent, especially by the media.

In addition, the Cuban leader enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. Meat, fish, cheese and red wine, all these delicacies satisfied the taste buds. His special weakness for ice cream made him built a temple in the heart of Havana, Coppelia, a huge complex dedicated to this refreshing dessert in all its forms.
