South Korean President Park Geun-Hye, Ready to Surrender the Power

South Korean president Park Geun-Hye, involved in a resounding corruption scandal, stated that she is ready to surrender the power before the end of her presidential term, planned for early 2018. In addition, Park Geun-Hye announced that she will leave her fate in the hands of the South-Korean Parliament, informs AFP on Tuesday.


‘When the parliamentarians will set the conditions for the transition to reduce the impact of the power and the chaos in management sector, I will leave’, said the state leader during a televised speech.


The corruption scandal, which in the last two weeks caused major public demonstrations, in which the participants demanded the resignation of Park Geun-Hye , because she helped her close friend Choi Soon-Sil to benefit from government services.


The South Korean investigators want to find out if President Park Geun-Hye has obtained prescription drugs under the name of Choi Soon-Sil in private clinics, without the knowledge of the medical staff.


Authorities are investigating whether South Korea’s president interfered in one way or another to influence the merger between Samsung and its close friend.


Samsung is accused of financial favors, while Choi Soon-sil was accused of attempted fraud and charged for having a beneficial relationship with President Park.


The scandal has generated numerous protests and demands for the resignation of the president, but Park Geun-Hye claims the allegations are unfounded.


Moreover, President Park is accused by the Korean authorities of sharing classified decisions and government policies with friend Choi. The South-Korean state leader acknowledged some mistakes, apologizing on public television twice.
