Steven Gerrard announced his official retirement

The former captain of Liverpool announced his official retirement on Thursday after a career of 18 years.


The official announcement was made on Thursday, informs BBC.


‘I feel so lucky because I lived so many wonderful moments. We had an incredible career and I am so grateful for every moment I lived at Liverpool, L.A Galaxy and England’s national team.’, said Gerrard.


The 36-year-old player played 690 official football games for Liverpool and won 11 trophies between 1998 and 2015.


By the summer of 2016, Gerrard was playing for L.A Galaxy in the North American football league.


The talented player was ranked in top four players selected to play in the national team of the UK, scoring a number of 114 appearances.


The midfielder attended six national tournaments in the World and European Championship finals. In three matches he activated as a captain.


In 2015 Gerrard has coached players aged under 16 for a short period and he expressed his delight regarding this activity.


Shortly after the contract with L.A. Galaxy expired, the midfielder suggested that he had many options and he wants to spent a lot more time to analyze them.


Steven George Gerrard was an English professional footballer player. The footballer played for Major League Soccer Club L.A. Galaxy as a midfielder, but has spent most of his career playing for Premier League club Liverpool as captain.


Gerrard has spent 17 seasons at Anfield, Liverpool, starting from 1998. Later, in 2000 he earned his place in the first team and advanced to the position of captain in 2003.
