A man who lost his iPhone into a frozen lake during a fishing trip recovered his smartphone now, after a year.

A year later, the lake was drained and the phone was recovered by a group of workers. The most astonishing part of the story is that the iPhone was still functioning.

Michael Guntrum, an American from Pennsylvania, lost the phone a year ago, after he fell into the -25 degrees Celsius water.

The iPhone slipped out of his pocket and fell right into a hole, where he and his buddies were fishing.

But now, the man had the surprise of his life: he recovered the smartphone after the lake was drained, during a construction project.

Daniel Kalgren, one of the workers checked the area with a metal detector and the iPhone was covered with mud, according to Metro.

He took home the iPhone, he cleaned and dried the device and he switched it on opened, the phone worked perfectly.

After he made these operations, the worker managed to find the phone number of the owner and return the device.

Meanwhile, Gutnrum acquired another phone but he was so surprised by the happening, he decided to keep him and give it to his mother.
