Nearly 30 people were killed and other 100 were rushed to the hospital on Tuesday in Baghdad.
The civilians were caught in the middle of fight between the government forces of Mosul and the jihadists.
One of the two bomb attacks was claimed by the Islamic State
On Monday night, a kamikaze was thrown into the air in a trap vehicle situated in front of a popular ice cream joint from the Karrada neighborhood in downtown Mosul.
‘The balance shows 16 deaths and 75 injured, including women and children’, a security official revealed earlier.
The images and videos published on social media show the devastating impact of the explosion.
The Islamic State claimed the attack via the Amaq propaganda agency.
Apparently, they were targeting the members of the ‘Shia Assembly’, a Muslim community considered as heretical by the Sunni Jihadist organization.
Brett McGurk, the US Special Envoy of the international coalition in Syria and Iraq, condemned the attack.
‘Terrorists from ISIS targeted children and families who were having fun at ice cream joint. We support Iraq against the evil’, he added.
A few hours later, another trap car parked on the Bridge of Martyrs, one of the most crowded places in the capital, exploded.
‘Eleven people were killed in the deflagration, most of them civilians’, an officer said.
These attacks took place in the holy month of the Ramadan.
