Twelve years after dropping out of college to create the world’s most influential social networking platform, Mark Zuckerberg returned to Harvard.

The Facebook co-founder received an honorary diploma and held a speech in front of the graduates, urging them to follow their dreams.

Mark Zuckerberg decided to drop out of college in November 2005 in order to fully dedicate to his project: Facebook, The Telegraph notes.

“The purpose is that feeling when you feel like you are part of something more important than yourself. When our parents graduated, this purpose was mainly related to service, church, and the community in which they lived.

But today, technology and automation lead to the elimination of many jobs.

Many become depressed, trying to fill a void in their lives. I met workers who know they will not be able to recover their jobs and they are trying to find a new path. In order for our society to move forward, we must face the challenge of our generation – not only to create new jobs but also to create new purposes, “, said Mark Zuckerberg to the graduates and their parents.

The founder of the social network also visited former dorm, where he lived during his studies with Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum and Chris Hughes.

Mark Zuckerberg’s speech was also witnessed by his parents, who were dreaming about this moment since his first year of college.

Microsoft’s founder, Bill Gates, dropped out of college in 1975, receiving his diploma at the age of 32.
