These 147 women don’t believe in this myth at all so they decided to get married in the exact same day.

The event became quite a tradition in Serbia, where the local administrations organize these events every single year.

Thousands of couple became married during major get-togethers that last in Serbia for more than two decades.

147 nervous brides and grooms said ‘I do’ in a chorus in front of Belgrad’s city hall

The deputy mayor formalized the ceremony and declared all 147 couples husbands and wives.

The youngest grooms are 21 years old while the oldest have about 70 years.

‘Collective’ weddings in May represent a major tradition in Belgrade

The first one took place in 1999 after NATO attacked Serbia and main purpose of these events is to suggest that life goes on and love can conquer anything.

Meanwhile, the event became so popular that people from abroad come to tie the knot here.

One of the couples from this year’s gathering came all the way from Costa Rica.

The wedding gowns and the hotel were supported by the local administration, which also gifted 20 couples who are expecting, carriages.

However, the most fortunate couples received honeymoons in Serbia and furniture for their new homes during a lottery.
