A series of pictures published in Iranian women magazines from the 70’s went viral
Before the 1979 revolution, the Muslim country was completely different from today.
The women from that era were all about fashion and glam hairstyles because the government offered them the freedom to experiment.
In these pictorials, women used to wear revealing dresses, skintight clothes and they weren’t afraid to show a little bit of skin.
Now, Iranians are extremely conservative and women are forced to cover their hair, neck and arms.
However, the revolution brought with it massive changes, especially among women.
The new government imposed them to wear broad clothing and to cover the hair with a veil.
Subsequently, women’s rights have been increasingly restricted.
In April 2007, the Tehran police began arresting women who wore the “evil hijab”, a veil that did not completely cover their hair or arms.
Thousands of women received warnings or they ended up behind bars.
Although women have more rights in Iran than in Saudi Arabia, where they are not even allowed to drive cars, the situation when it comes to the Iranian female society is not exactly blooming either.
