The City Over the Sea is the $1. 7 billion project set to become a reality in Dubai

Also known as Marsa Al Arab, the billion dollars plan by which Dubai will build two artificial islands on both sides of the Burj al Arab Jumeirah Hotel will be inaugurated by 2020, reports CNN.

The developer of the ambitious project is Dubai Holding, who also revealed the islands meant to surround the Burj Al Arab will spread across 400.000 square meters.

The exorbitantly expensive project will be initiated in June and will be completed by 2020

One of the two islands will serve as a resort with luxury accommodations for families and children, entertainment shows for tourists and other exotic experiences.

Meanwhile, the second island will be a private one, with ultra-luxurious villas, a private harbor for yachts and a small hotel for the tourists who want to spend only a few nights.

According to the local administration, the new project is expected to attract 20 million tourists per year.

The developer will rush to finish the plan by 2020 because in that same year, Dubai will become host of World Expo 2020.

Since the beginning of the year and until now, the city of Dubai was visited by 4.6 million tourists.
