India: 23 died after they were struck by lightning

Twenty-nine people were killed and other 12 were severely wounded on Monday, during a violent lightning storm in Bihar, eastern India, officials said.
Most deaths were reported in Jamui, Champaran, Vaishali and Samastipur districts, stated service representative for disaster management Anirudh Kumar.
‘Twenty-four people died after they were struck by lightning and other five have perished in accidents related to the violent storm’, added Kumar from Patna, the state’s capital.
The 12 injured have received medical care in the hospitals from the area and they were discharged quickly, the official added.
The storm and the violent wind gusts also destroyed the crops and most victims are farmers and homeless people
According to First Post, a 62-year-old farmer and his brother in-law were killed by lightning while they were working in a maize field at Laxmipur Bundh tola, circle inspector Sadanand Mandal said.
A 30-year-old woman suffered burn injuries in another incident of lightning in the same locality, he said.
