When it comes to the Christian church, Pope Francis has a strong opinion about how it should be. During a morning mass on Thursday, the Pope opened up about the church and Christians and the behavior that he cannot accept.
He thinks that rather than being a terrible Christian, atheism is better. He has experienced so many bad behaviors from Christians, that do not accept others and bully.
The Pope thinks that managing a ‘dirty’ business or having a double life is not something that corresponds with the Christian values. He has seen so many people who do this and create controversy.
To his statement, he added a quote from the Gospel of Mark. This includes a line said by Jesus about how being drowned is better than causing others to sin.
Pope Francis gave several examples of scandals: teachers who make their students angry, businessmen who encourage fraud through laws, those who manipulate the public opinion. The ones that take advantage of their positions to make others sin or create scandal.
At the end, he pointed to the acceptance that such a person would receive in the after world. He imagined a story with such a person, who would be turned down by Jesus as he ran a dirty business.
The Pope has opened up about this matter before, calling out hypocrites. Earlier this month, he called out the ones who speak piously, but do not help others.
Regarding atheists, the Pope said before that the Lord’s place is open to everyone.
