The upcoming Mars mission of NASA

NASA plans to analyze the living conditions on Mars to find a way of building shelters with the resources they will find on the planet.

The American space agency will initiate a mission on Mars in 2030 and, meanwhile, the experts plan to reduce other costs in order to invest more in this project.

For this achieving this purpose, the researchers are studying the martian soil and several ways to extracting the metal from the ground.

The obtained resources will be used to print with 3D technology the necessary tools for sustaining human life.

The agency and a team of researchers from the University of Central Florida identified metallic oxides on Mars.

In order to extract them, the experts believe that electrolysis is the best method of converting the ground into metal and oxygen.

The process includes melting the martian soil at 1.600 °C and the opposite electrodes surrounding the melted material will separate the metal from oxygen.

The project is focused on the possibility of 3D printing the existing material to create the necessary compounds for building several structures, shelters, and small-sized tools.

However, the main idea behind the project is finding a surviving method based on the resources present in space.

Mostly because the necessary tools cannot be transported by a space ship

If the astronauts will load the spaceship with tools and other materials from Earth, the costs of the mission can become staggering.

During their most recent conference, NASA unveiled the discovering of a new solar system, which hosts seven different planets able to host life.
