Mahershala Ali became the first Muslim actor awarded with an Oscar
The actor was granted with one of the most prestigious awards of the night for his remarkable performance in Moonlight.
This is Mahershala first nomination and fist trophy that he ever won.
He dedicated the golden statute to his newborn baby.
Mahershala was born in California and until Moonlight he scored a few small appearances in some TV series.
The 43-year-old became worldwide famous after his performance in House of Cards although he only played in the first four seasons.
After House of Cards, he played in a serial produced by Netflix, where he interpreted a villain.
Mahershala also appeared in The Hunger Games, where he teamed up with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson.
However, Moonlight represented his big break in the entertainment industry and brought him his first trophy.
