EU and Spain spark outrage after being accused of trying to take Gibraltar back amidst Brexit

Brexit took effect only a few days ago and problems already started to appear. Now, Spain has problems, as it is accused of working with the European Union to get back Gibraltar. They are accused of trying to take advantage of Brexit to get what they want.

According to a document from the European Council, the state will receive a veto on whether Brexit will apply to Gibraltar as well.

This documents states that Spain cannot get back Gibraltar unless they have a discussion with the United Kingdom and get permission for it.

This has completely shocked Brit officials. They think of this as unacceptable. The EU is giving way to much power to Spain to decide the future of Gibraltar.

Boris Johnson responded to this. He wrote on social media that he talked with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The United Kingdom is going to remain implacable and will continue to support Gibraltar amidst Spain’s push.

Right after signing Article 50, Theresa May declared that she is not going to let the people of Gibraltar be ruled by anyone else against their wishes. They are really keen on respecting their wishes.

An official from Spain declared that his country already starts to fight back. They are going to block agreements that regard airline’s rights of landing in Gibraltar.

Spain and the UK need to reach a consensus and get a deal that would suit them both. Right now, all that British officials believe is that Spain is bullying them.
