The Republicans voted against a law implemented by former president, Barack Obama. The law regards the use of guns and impediments the ones with mental diseases from purchasing them.

Obama wanted the use of guns to be restricted and especially when it comes to the ones mentally ill, the use needs to be prevented.

But Republicans have different opinions. The Senate has decided to let the faith of this law in the hand of Donald Trump. If he wants to stop this legislation, then all he has to do is sign the paperwork.

The 44th president took this decision after in 2012 an attack killed 28. Some of them were children, as the event occurred at a public school.

A man in his early twenties was responsible for the massacre. He was suffering from several mental disorders. He even murdered his mother. The man shot himself too.

Being the biggest attack ever taken at a school, Obama had to change the law.

The Senate held a vote session for this law. The results are 57 in favor and 43 against. All that remains to do is Trump to sign it.

Charles Grassley was the one to proposed the repeal of the law. He declared that the characteristics of the law don’t fit the federal standard.

Several non-governmental groups agree to this decision. Some think that this is a stereotype that says the ones with mental problems are violent.

Another senator thinks that Obama’s law made the ones with mental issues purchase the guns easier.
