A man from California, who had just buried his own son, received the most unexpected phone call, 11 days after the funeral
According to The Guardian, early in May the body of a homeless man was found on the street.
82-year-old Frank J. Kerrigan was informed the deceased is, in fact, his son who suffered from a mental illness.
The next obvious question was if he was required to come at the morgue and identify the body but the authorities told Frank it’s not necessary because the identification process was already accomplished via a fingerprint device.
“When someone tells me that my son is dead and they have his fingerprints, I believe him”, revealed the grieving father.
That exact same day, Frank’s daughter went to her brother’s death scene and placed a flower wreath.
As is customary, the family of the 57-year-old organized a funeral which cost them about $20.000 and included 50 close friends and family members.
So far, there’s nothing unusual
However, the awkward part occurred 11 days after the funeral, when Frank received a phone call from a friend who told him his son is safe and sound.
“I told him to get him on the phone, and he said <<Hello, father>>”, added the Californian.
He later found out the forensic doctor had made a mistake and the identification process based on fingerprints encountered some ‘errors’.
Now, the man is planning to sue the officials who have put him through the terrible moments.
