Four Arab states have sent a list of 13 requirements that Qatar must fulfill if they want to be let off the hook, writes BBC News.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Emirates and Bahrain have required Qatar to close the Al Jazeera headquarters.
In addition, in less than 10 days, Qatar was forced to suspend every single diplomatic and military tie with Iran and close a Turkish military base.
Meanwhile, as an attempt to smooth the water, US’ Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has urged the ‘obfuscated’ Arab countries to create a list of “acceptable and feasible” conditions for Qatar.
‘The’ list looks pretty much like this:
- Suspend the ties with the Muslim Brotherhood, a forbidden organization in the Arab states.
- Refuse to naturalize the citizens of the Arab States and expel those who are in Qatar now, so that Qatar ‘no longer interferes in the internal affairs of the states’.
- Extradite all those included on the terrorist created by all four Arab states.
- Funding any extremist entity or terrorist group is completely forbidden.
- Provide all the information they have about the opposition members that Qatar has funded in Saudi Arabia.
- Align with the political, economic and other policy directives established during the Gulf Cooperation Council.
- Not to fund any other TV stations, including Al Jazeera, Arabi21 or Middle East Eye.
- To pay an unspecified amount as ‘compensation’.
- Close the Turkish military base.
- Close the Al Jazeera TV station.
- Suspend all diplomatic ties with Iran.
- Suspend the ties with the Islamic State, Al Qaeda, and the Hezbollah group.
- Close all Iranian diplomatic offices in Qatar, expel any member of the Iranian elite.
