Five of the Queen’s guards fainted during the parade held yesterday in London, during the Queen’s official birthday celebration, The Telegraph reports.
Dressed in their signature uniforms, the soldiers scrolled in front of the sovereign and the royal family.
Due to the high temperature, a soldier fainted in the middle of the ceremony and three of his colleagues rushed to help him.
Shortly after, four other soldiers followed in his footsteps, by literally falling down during the parade.
“We can confirm that during the Queen’s parade a group of soldiers has fainted.
It was a very warm day. They were all (…) checked by the medical staff”, a British Army spokesman revealed.
London celebrated the Queen’s Day with a spectacular parade.
Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her birthday twice a year, according to a tradition established by George II in 1748.
The tradition was established in this way because King George II was born in November when the weather was not exactly right for a parade.
Usually, Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her birthday on April 21 in the family, and then she celebrates her “official” anniversary in June.
The official birthday of the Queen is marked by the shooting of the 41 cannons in Hyde Park, 21 cannons in Windsor Great Park and 62 at Tower of London.
This year, the official day of the sovereign took place at a time when the country is shocked by the tragedy at Grenfell Tower.
The Queen and Duke of Cambridge met on Friday with the Grenfell Tower residents, volunteers, and community representatives during a visit to the Westway Sports Center.
