A French general was accused of using a military plane to travel home
According to Sky News, the official would have used the Alpha Jet for personal purposes at least ten times.
In this way, the French general traded the seven hours trip with a 30 minutes ‘supersonic ride’ in the Alpha Jet.
Richard Reboul would have used the military plane at least ten times only in the last year to fly from his workplace in Bordeaux to his home in Provence.
This route would normally have lasted about seven hours by train or one hour with a commercial flight.
Instead, the official traveled in style and arrived home in less than 30 minutes.
According to the French publication Le Canard Enchaine, the fuel of the military aircraft would cost the French taxpayers tens of thousands of euros.
The general’s getaways came to light after he began using another military plane, which had another pilot and a co-pilot.
The pair was apparently urged to give the general “a ride home” and on the weekends they were scheduled to lift him from his place.
The new French defense minister, Florence Parly, has announced that an investigation will be initiated, announcing that there will be “consequences” if it is confirmed that the general has “abused resources”.
Alpha Military Aircraft are commonly used in military exercises, and sometimes they are also part of aviation shows.
