Almost 70% of Holland’s adult population fears from a terrorist attack, according to a report published by the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) based on behavioral changes induced by terrorist threats, Xinhua reports.

Despite these concerns, only 4% of Holland’s citizens think they are likely to become victims of terrorism, while 75% consider this probability to be less.

Almost 40% of respondents revealed they are living with this fear every single day of their day.

They are attentive to suspicious persons or behaviors, to those who carry large rucksacks or suitcases, to people who seem to be of foreign origin, to those with nervous behavior or to places where they should not be found.

Much of the respondents answered that they are looking more closely around, especially in places where many people gather, such as major events, train stations, airports or shopping centers, and that they often monitor suspicious situations such as luggage Left unattended.

Nearly half of the Dutch also said that due to fear of terrorist attacks, they are currently avoiding certain destinations they would like to visit.

The CBS survey, the first to measure fear of terrorism among the Dutch, was conducted between February and May 2016 on a sample of 3.500 adult respondents.

After its completion, several terrorist attacks took place in Europe, including London, Manchester, Berlin or Munich.
