The Swiss Tennis player just won his 18th major title. In the Australian Open final, Roger Federer defeated his longtime rival, Rafael Nadal.

The contest ended with the following scores: 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3. Federer’s win was pretty unexpected as he took a break in the past months because of health concerns. For six months, he had to take a break from the sport as he experienced knee problems.

Of course, the win brought him a lot of joy, especially since he won against the Spanish player.

“I said that also before the finals: if I were to win against Rafa, it would be super special and very sweet because I haven’t beaten him in a Grand Slam final for a long, long time now,” declared the 35-year-old.

His wife, who used to play Tennis herself, was in the public, supporting him. She shared each up and down. Both the joy and worry could’ve been seen on her face.

The last time the two Tennis players confronted each other and ended with the Swiss’ win was in 2007, at Wimbledon.

This is the 18th Grand Slam Federer wins. This brings him back to the top ten players.

The Swiss revealed that he thought he was going to lose at one point. Since it has been a while to play with Nadal, the things have changed. The Spaniard changed his tactics and there is the injury Federer suffered. In spite of that, Feder and his aggressive game brought him the cup.

After the game, Rafael Nadal revealed that he is not sad about the result. He has hope for this year, that is going to be a good one. He trusts his body and believes he will have success.

This is the first major Tennis tour of this year. Both Nadal and his rival will have a full year.
