Scientists from the University of Washington predict how the future will look. People are going to have their minds controlled by virtual reality.

A footage shows how one of the researchers tests a device that sends signals to the brain. The brain receives information from a computer.

According to Rajesh Rao, who is a professor at the university, this is not at all invasive.

What they wanted to see if sending information to the brain is possible right through the computer. What this does is make the “brain start to understand that information and make use of it to solve a task.”

This will enable scientists and not only to understand how virtual reality really works.

The experiment only consists in the participants to go through 21 mazes.  Other sensors are not available.

The moment the information reaches the brain, it is felt like a flash of light. The participant has to go through mazes chosen by someone who controls.

“Whenever I see that phosphene I’ll know there’s a wall in this maze and my job is to go down the ladder,” revealed one participant.

If the participant does not see the light, he has to get out of the maze.

Another researcher revealed that their plan is to develop a sixth sense with this device.

This could give much more possibilities, like making the blind see through it. Everything consists in stimulating the brain. That could lead to such uses. Make someone feel something or see.

This device can lead to others such as this being developed, that can really be a breakthrough in the science field.

The team from the university also wants to develop virtual reality more. People have to wait, though, until they can get such a device. The team estimates about 15, 20 years.
