The British Parliament has started the debates regarding Brexit on Tuesday afternoon.

The law shall authorize the government to launch the negotiations on leaving the EU.

Titled ‘The project of the EU (notice of withdrawal)’, the document was released last Thursday in a short version.

Consequently, the preview of the law is asking the MPs to offer the Prime Minister the power to notify Europe, according to Article 50 of The EU Treaty, UK’s intention of leaving the system.

The close examining of the project shall start this afternoon and will continue until Wednesday, followed by other three days of debate – February 6, 7, 8.

Furthermore, after reaching a conclusion, the government should put an end to the discussions by submitting a final vote.

If the text is short and could, theoretically, be approved quickly, as the executive desires, it already submitted five amendments that might prevent adopting the law.

Thus it can be read in two of these files on the website of the Parliament, that the deputies have filed several requests. For example, the project should not be studied because it “fails to guarantee UK’s membership on the single European market.

Another amendment refuses to study the text because the regional parliaments will not be consulted on the activation of Article 50.

A fourth amendment calls for the same thing due to lack of a “white book” containing Theresa May’s strategy.

However, she has accepted last week to submit the publication of a document which is inspired by her speech on January 17. She then claimed a clear break-up of the EU.
