On Friday, Donald Trump signed an executive order in which he bans immigrants from seven countries to come to the US. After the news broke, thousands of people started protests across the country.

Trump took to clarify his decision. He wrote both on his Twitter account and gave an interview.

“Our country needs strong borders and extreme vetting, NOW. Look what is happening all over Europe and, indeed, the world – a horrible mess,” wrote the president.

He goes further, by pointing towards the senators, who backlashed at him. He says that instead of critiquing, they should ensure that the border is protected.

Trump lashes out at the media again. He thinks that the media is only delivering “fake news”.

On Sunday afternoon, he released a statement. He starts by admitting that America has been, indeed, formed by immigrants. What he wants to do is keep it safe, even if it is the “land of the free and home of the brave.”

Like he has said before, this ban is not only for Muslims, but for the ones who come from terrorist zones. Although he claims this, the majority of the ones that come from the seven banned countries are Muslims.

The executive order created a lot of confusion. People that arrived to the US these days had to return home. Most of them were refugees who fought hard to reach the states. The news that they had to return devastated them.

Immigrants and Americans altogether started protesting in airports and not only. Everyone is disappointed and furthermore, angry.

The citizens of Syria have an indefinite ban, while the other six countries only three months: Libya, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan.

His decision regards the one that wait for visas or who already have one. The citizens that own a green card are not affected.
