China urges all steel and aluminum plants to reduce their production, especially after they banned the access of coal transporting trucks into the port.
As reported by Reuters, these measures are part of a massive project to reduce pollution.
The Chinese Ministry of Environment suggested a series of radical measures to reduce pollution in order to solve the pollution issue present in one of the most affected cities.
The initiative follows a crisis present in the northeastern region of China, who confront an unprecedented situation triggered by the coal consume.
Some official papers highlight the plans of reducing the steel production and the capacity of producing soil at a half.
According to some official sources, the aluminum plants will reduce their capacity by 30% in 28 Chinese cities until November 2017.
Until July, the coal shipments from Tianjin will change their course towards Tangshan.
Tianjin is the China’s second harbor and a transporting sport for more than 100 million tons of coal.
Starting with September, the ports from Hebei will eliminate trucks from its transportation system.
If these measures will be implemented in the following three months, the initiative will reduce China’s annual steel production by 8% and the aluminum production by 17%.
The pollution became China’s biggest concern in the last five years. The problem becomes more critical each and every day.
Beijing is permanently surrounded by this dense fog, which puts to great risk the health of the locals.
