Fire in a Paris subway; trains were halted for several hours

Two travelers were slightly injured in a fire that broke out on Wednesday evening.
The accident was produced in the subway station situated in Plaza Italie in Paris.
Le Parisienne newspaper informs that, in total, three people have suffered minor injuries, two passengers and a subway conductor.
The three were slightly intoxicated with smoke after the fire broke out on line 6, according to the French media.
According to the local press agencies, the trains on line 6 of the subway in Paris, in the station in Plaza Italie, were halted until 1:55 local time because of the smoke and the fire that occurred around 9:00 p.m.
According to preliminary information, the incident would have happened because of some technical issues.
Some witnesses say that a spark was the source of the smoke that caused the explosion.
Initially, the French press reported on Wednesday evening that the passengers in the subway station were evacuated after an explosion.
Later on, they specified that it was just an accidental fire.

“Passengers were evacuated by the agents of the station. Firefighters quickly intervened, as well as the maintenance employees. They headed to the site are now to deal with the matter,” said the leading official of the subway immediately after the incident.

Also, just a few days ago, the underground flow returned to normal after a wire was pierced by an insulator, that started filling the Revolution station with smoke.

The area was immediately isolated for remediation. The intervention teams have quickly appeared on the spot.

According to a Parisian source, the circulation was deviated for a short period of time, until the problem was solved.

“There were no evacuations”, said the subway representatives.
