Scotland further rejects Brexit

Last month, Scottish Prime Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, said that they won’t support Britain with Brexit.

Now, Scotland goes further and rejects Brexit. Today, the Parliament voted against the bill in a large number. The votes were of 90 to 34.

The country does not want to take part of distancing from the European Union.

The Government considers this vote a historical one. More than three quarters of the Parliament voted against Brexit.

It might be the biggest decision taken in the last eighteen years.

Mike Russell is the one in charge with the Brexit negotiations. He said that he won’t allow Scotland to be humiliated. Their choice will be respected.

Although Brexit means the departure from Europe, Russell reassures that the country will keep a close relation with the union.

Scotland’s position hasn’t been decided yet. Russell hopes to reach a compromise.

There is a large possibility that Scotland will continue to stay in the single market from the European Union, even if the other states of the United Kingdom will not.

In Britain, there are still running debates to decide if the prime minister Theresa May can move on with the plan.

In spite of the importance the vote has in Scotland, it does not have a true legal power.

When the Brexit referendum took place last year, 62% of the votes were against. The ones that really wanted the departure from Europe were the British.

In total, 52% voted for Brexit. May’s first plan is to depart UK from the single market. In two years, all that it needs to be done for leaving the European Union will be established.

Until then, the proper approval needs to be given.
